Thalía in People en Español Festival 2015 — Naturalization Ceremony

The Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS, for its English acronym) recognized two prominent Americans by choice in the world of arts and sports as part of the celebrations for Hispanic Heritage Month.

In People en Español Festival held in New York last Sunday October 18, Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas presided over a swearing-in ceremony where he highlighted the contribution of immigrants who have become US citizens.

In this ceremony he recognized the singer and actress Thalía and former New York Yankees player, Mariano Rivera. They received the recognition "Outstanding American by Choice", an initiative that recognizes the achievements of individuals who have been naturalized as American citizens through civic participation, professional and civic responsibility.

People who receive this award have demonstrated their commitment to US and civic values that unite all Americans.

During the ceremony, they also sworn 100 immigrants from 35 countries.
