The Mexican star talks about desAMORfosis, her new and most intimate musical production. In the same way, she spoke about her collaboration with the Peruvian Leslie Shaw and if she could at some point return to acting.

In the midst of the pandemic, Thalía unraveled her deepest feelings in an inner journey full of emotions, through music and lyrics: of love and heartbreak, of rejection and loneliness, of reinvention and emotional development. desAMORfosis, the new and most intimate musical installment of the award-winning Mexican artist, is an invitation to a journey through the different stages of love.

"desAMORfosis is based on personal stories, it is the resurgence of love, it is to discard the lack of love, the broken hearts and make a metamorphosis of all those experiences to give way to the person I have become. This album is a new adventure, it is like giving birth to a child. I composed, produced and mixed this production, I am very excited", the influential Mexican artist highlights in conversation with El Comercio Perú.

The sounds that make up Thalía's new musical installment, made up of 14 songs, include fusions of different musical genres, from pop ballads to the danceable rhythms of reggaeton and electronics.

A few days after its release, Tick Tock, one of the songs included in the album, managed to be placed on the list of Top Global Music Videos on YouTube and in the Top 20 of Billboard's Latin Pop Airplay. Likewise, her collaboration Ya Tú Me Conoces with Mau y Ricky was positioned on the Latin Digital Song Sales and Latin Pop Airplay charts on Billboard.

What does this new album represent in your more than four decades of your artistic career?
It is that recognition that we have all faced during the pandemic. In the last few months we have dealt with fears, anxieties, vulnerabilities; But in the end it has made us strong, robust, whole, freed us from many things that we had been carrying, simplified our lives. That happened to me. It made me want to live everything to the fullest and we reflected it on this album.

Where does the name come from?
To make an account of all those loves that suddenly broke me into pieces and have made me who I am today. To take out and dust the things you don't need and put them in a cool and beautiful place. Of the things that add to you, that they give you and do not subtract. The album has a total sequence: falling in love, being blind with love, the moment when you realize that this person is not for you, when your heart is broken and, finally, when you come to life and you realize that if you don't start by loving yourself, nothing is going to work. The "desamorfosis" journey is a journey to self-love.

Are the songs inspired by stages in your life? Have your heart been broken many times?
Definitely, each of these songs had something to do with some personal story, and in many I am the author or co-author. Many times they have shattered my heart and that is when we learn, when we reinvent ourselves and this metamorphosis appears so important for us to emerge more powerful. Making this album has been incredible, I have worked with greats in the industry such as Tainy, Edgar Barrera, Maffio, Trooko... We have recorded in different parts of the world, in Colombia, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Brazil... This album is so mine, so personal, it is different from the others.

Is it the best album you have released so far?
It's very funny, whenever we put out a record we say that. This is the most personal, of my stories, of my heart, of things that were, that I love, that I let go, that I treasure. It is a journey through my stories.

Do you have collaborations on this EP?
With Banda MS we have an incredible surprise, we have also recorded with Farina, Jhay Cortez, Mau y Ricky, Myke Towers and Sofia Reyes.

Regarding Farina, Estoy Soltera is a song you recorded with Leslie Shaw, won Premio Luces in the Heat of the Year category.
That is precious, it gives me so much satisfaction and joy, especially for working with two such tough women, so committed to music and the industry. I love Fari very much, we worked together for a long time on a reality show that we had on Facebook, Latin Music Queens. Just as you see her singing loud and aggressive, she is sweet and loving. I love her so much.

What do you think of Leslie Shaw's musical work? Do you think she will go far internationally?
For her and for many other young women who are making their way in the industry, there is fertile land to sow, there is a very good market, and what this generation has in its favor are social media networks. Now you make a good video, a good content and that's it, it becomes global.

What do you prioritize when accepting a collaboration?
I like to collaborate with people who I feel have something extra to propose to me, that vibrates me, that I have fun. If something is forced, people feel it. I get carried away by instinct.

An instinct that has kept you alive for more than 40 years in such a changing and uncertain music industry.
There is a lot of experience, falls, tears, cries, many why I did not say it, why I did not. These things teach you, they give you tools to get up, to continue. After falling is when you value, when you hit. I constantly reinvent myself, I like to collaborate with different artists, sing different musical themes, act, be a businesswoman; but above all, entertain people.

Do you plan to resume acting?
I love acting, I'm sure one of these will surprise you.

How have you lived your life since you were diagnosed with Lyme disease?
It marked me forever because it is a disease that does not go away, it cannot be cured. I have to have an extra discipline, a strict diet, based on vegetables, grains, fruits, do a lot of exercise, not stressing, find a life that contributes to me, that makes me feel good, get away from stress. This is how I have lived my life for several years and I am very happy.
